Construction of the Raigmore Active Travel Link continues, with the team preparing the site before the delivery of street furniture and wood cladding for the sheet piles. A date has also been confirmed for the felling of dead and diseased trees.
What’s been happening?
Over the past week, the team has continued work on the two remaining sets of steps on the route. Drainage work has also been completed.
What’s happening next?
This week, the final two sets of steps should be completed, and handrails will begin being erected. Kerbing works will also take place ahead of surfacing works beginning week commencing 11th October.
The date for the felling of dead and diseased trees surrounding the site is set to begin on 13th October. Felling of the trees could take up to a week to complete and there will be a member of the team present while this is happening to ensure the footpath is safe for use.
As previously confirmed, once these works have been completed around mid-October, the team will leave the site until the remaining materials are delivered. The site will be secured and checked daily.
It is hoped work can recommence in early/mid-November, once street furniture and wooden cladding has been delivered by suppliers, and will take approximately two to three weeks to complete.
The projected finish date for the Raigmore Active Travel Link is now 24th November 2021.
